Belleville Police investigated four incidents of Shoplifting on June 12, 2009.
At 12:15 p.m., a North Front Street Nursery reported that two suspects fled the parking lot with approximately $200.00 worth of potting soil and soil fertilizer. It is alleged the pair made no attempt to pay for these item and were last seen driving away in a dark coloured vehicle. This theft is currently under investigation.
At 12:37 p.m., police responded to Walmart regarding a shoplifter. A 25 year old Belleville woman was charged under the Trespass to Property Act and was banned from entering the store in the future.
At 4:30 p.m., Police responded to the Bay View Mall regarding a shoplifter. It is alleged a male and female entered the store and removed two dresses without attempting to pay for them. This theft is currently under investigation.
At 7:15 pm on June 12, 2009 police were called to a Bridge Street West business to investigate a report of a shoplifter. Investigation revealed that a female patron had stolen a quantity of groceries from the store. It was also discovered that she was on Probation and had a condition requiring her to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. A 26 year old Belleville woman was charged with Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. She was released on an Appearance Notice.
