Thefts from parked cars – male arrested

Belleville, Ontario – On June 11th, 2013, at 6:44 a.m., police attended at an apartment building on College Street East in relation to a male sleeping in the stairwell. This male was surrounded by property which included two gym bags, a wallet, loose identification, Visa cards and a chequebook. The male was arrested for being in possession of stolen property. As the investigation progressed, the property was linked to cars that had been broken into overnight. The cars had been parked on Lake Court, Faraday Gardens, Union Street, Carmen Avenue, Stone Street, Moira Street East, and South Park Street. David Reid, 20 years of age, from Marlbank, will appear in court on July 9th on charges of possession of a controlled substance and 9 counts of possession of stolen property.

Accidents

Belleville, Ontario –On June 11th, 2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., police investigated 8 accidents.

At 9:06 a.m., police attended on Dundas Street East at Dufferin Avenue in relation to a 2 car accident. A driver was charged with an unsafe lane change.

At 9:14 a.m. police attended in the parking lot of the Bayview Mall for a minor 2 car accident.

At 12:01 p.m., police attended at Sidney Street and College Street in relation to a two car accident.

At 12:29 p.m., police attended on Hwy 2 at Grass Blvd. in relation to rollover in the westbound lanes. Belleville Fire Department attended as two persons had to be extricated from the overturned vehicle. Both were taken to Quinte Health care by EMS with minor injuries. Westbound traffic was re-routed north on Mitchell Road as the westbound lanes were closed for one hour. Police are continuing the investigation.

At 2:10 p.m., police attended at Pinnacle Street and Moira Street in relation to a two car accident. One driver was sent to Quinte Health Care with minor injuries. A driver was charged with disobeying a red light.

At 3:19 p.m. police attended at North Front Street at Tracey Street in relation to a minor two car accident.

At 6:05 p.m., police attended on Victoria Avenue as a cyclist had struck a car. The cyclist, who had been drinking, could not offer any description of the car that he ran into. The cyclist, who was not injured, was driven home by the officer.

At 6:19 p.m., police attended at Sidney Street at Bell Blvd. in relation to a two car accident. A turning vehicle lost control during a left turn and entered the west ditch after striking another car. The driver of the turning vehicle was charged with careless driving.

Domestic Assault(s)

Belleville, Ontario –On June 11th, 2013, at 1:12 p.m., police attended on Benjamin Street in relation to a domestic disturbance. A 35 year old Belleville man was arrested at the scene. He was charged with three counts of assault and one count of mischief. He will appear in court on July 22nd, 2013. The victim was not injured.

On June 11th, 2013, at 4:21 p.m., police attended on Dundas Street East in relation to a complaint of an assault. A 41 year old Belleville man was arrested at the scene. He was charged with assault and will appear in court on June 17th, 2013. The victim was not injured.

Thefts

Belleville, Ontario – On June 11th, 2013, at 10:47 a.m., officers observed a male on Station Street who was wanted for a theft of money from a residence on June 3rd. After a foot chase, a 30 year old Belleville man was arrested. A search of his pockets revealed a pawn ticket for a bicycle. This bicycle, which had also been reported stolen, was returned to its owner. The accused will appear in court on July 11th, 2013 on charges of theft, possession of stolen property, and escape lawful custody.

Disturbance(s)

Belleville, Ontario -On June 11th, 2013, at 7:43 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on College Street East. A 32 year old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.

On June 12th, 2013 at 2:30 a.m. police responded to a disturbance of North Front Street. A 32 year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.

B&E suspect arrested

Belleville, Ontario – On June 11th, 2013, at 7:54 p.m., police attended at a residence on Sidney Street in relation to a complaint of a break and enter. Information was gleaned from a neighbour about a potential suspect. As a result of an investigation, a 16 year old youth was arrested for break and enter with intent. He will appear in Youth Court on July 16th, 2013. Nothing was taken in this incident.

Impaired Driver

Belleville, Ontario – On June 12th, 2013, at 1:05 a.m. police attended on Isabel Street as a truck had slammed into a parked car. The driver was arrested at the scene for Impaired Driving. A 59 year old Quinte West man will appear in court on June 27th. The parked car was demolished in the accident. No one was injured.
