Theft ? Belleville, Ont.

At approximately 11:22 am on May 11, 2012 officers were dispatched to a North Front Street business to investigate a report of a male caught going through a purse who had fled the scene when confronted by staff. Video surveillance was utilized and he was located a short distance away by officers and arrested. The suspect now faces charges in connection with several thefts being investigated in the city. The 50 year old Belleville resident has been held for a Bail Hearing on May 14th and has been charged with the following offences.

  1. Three counts of Break and Enter
  2. Three counts of Theft Under $5000
  3. One count of Breach of Probation
  4. One count of Attempted Theft Under $5000.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Theft ? Belleville, Ont.

At approximately 5:06 pm on May 11, 2012 police responded to a Bridge Street West business to investigate a report of an adult male shoplifter. The suspect had stolen a quantity of clothing and had left the store without paying for the items. When the staff attempted to apprehend him, he threatened them with a knife described as having a 2 to 3 inch blade. He fled from the scene on foot and was last observed running in the Wellington Street / Charlotte Street area. He is described as being a white male, in his 30's having a slim build and being approximately 5'5? to 5'6? tall. He also had short dark hair and a goatee and was wearing a black muscle shirt, black shoes, and black shorts. He had numerous tattoos on both arms and one on the back of his right leg as well as one on the centre of his back between his shoulder blades. No one was hurt as a result of the incident and anyone with any information about his identity is asked to call the Belleville Police at 613-966-0882 or Quinte Crimestoppers.

Over 80MG ? Belleville, Ont.

At approximately 9:52 pm on May 11, 2012 an officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle in the Bridge Street West / Palmer Road area of the city which had been driving erratically. The male driver was found to have been consuming alcohol and was arrested at the scene and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he provided samples of his breath It was determined that he was driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. Andrew Baker, 25, of Belleville was charged with Over 80MG and was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of May 31, 2012.

Attempted Break and Enter ? Belleville, Ont.

At approximately 11:00 pm on May 11, 2012 officers were dispatched to a report of an attempted break and enter at an Albion Street residence. The occupants had been disturbed by a male who had opened a basement window that was unlocked and was using a lighter to try to look inside. He ran off on foot and no entry was gained to the home. He was described as being a white male wearing blue jeans and a ball cap. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882 or Quinte Crimestoppers.

Impaired Operation ? Belleville, Ont.

At approximately 2:14 am on May 12, 2012 an officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle being driven erratically in the North Front Street / Donald Street area of the city. The driver was found to have been consuming alcohol and was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where it was determined that he was driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. Adam MacDougall, 19, of Stirling was charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80MG and was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of May 24, 2012.
