Crimes Against Person

Belleville, Ontario – On May 11th, 2018, at 12:10 p.m. members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit assisted by the BPS Forensic Identification Unit and Tech Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located in the west end of the city. As a result of the criminal investigation and the search warrant, a 29-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts of sexual assault

  • 2 counts of possession of child pornography

  • 1 count of sexual interference involving a person under 16 years of age

    The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 12th, 2018.

     

    Robbery

    Belleville, Ontario – On May 11th, 2018, at 4:42 p.m. officers attended on Millennium Drive in relation to a shoplifter call. The investigation revealed that a couple had stolen several items and left the store without paying. Once outside the suspects were confronted by store security. The male suspect punched the security guard in the face. The other guard wrestled the backpack off the female. The couple initially ran away; however the male suspect returned to the security officers and brandished a knife. He retrieved the backpack and fled with it. Both suspects were located on Hwy 62 and arrested. The backpack contained cocaine, scales, drug paraphernalia and stolen property. Also seized was a quantity of cash. A 21-year-old Quinte West man was held for a bail hearing on May 12th, 2018 on charges of robbery, assault, theft under $5000., possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. The 17-year old female was charged with theft, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. She was released to a parent with a court date of June 5th, 2018. Her name cannot be released due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The security guard received minor injuries.

     

    Disturbances

    Belleville, Ontario – On May 11th, 2018, at 5:55 p.m. police attended at a Pine Street residence for the second time that afternoon. A 30-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for breaching the peace. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.

    On May 11th, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. police received multiple calls to an Alnet Drive residence. A 41-year old Belleville man was arrested for breaching the peace. Alcohol was a factor in this incident. The accused received minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
