Assault Bodily Harm/ Assault
Belleville, Ontario ? On 11 September, 2011 at 2:59 a.m. police were informed of an incident that had just occurred in the parking lot of a North Front Street business. It was reported that a non white male wearing a grey hoodie and jeans had been in an altercation with a female and subsequently involved in a second altercation with another female. The two females were known to each other but neither female knew the male. The male was last seen in the area of Tracey Street at North Front Street. The male matching the description was located on North Park Street shortly after.
Investigation of this incident resulted in a 29 year old Mississauga male being charged with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon and one count of Breach of Undertaking. This male will appear for a bail hearing on 12 September, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Provincial court.
One female attended BGH for treatment and was later released.
Break and Enter(s)
Belleville, Ontario ? From 9 September, 2011 to 12 September, 2011 police commenced investigations in relation to 7 break and enter complaints.
A garage on Burton Street was entered overnight on the 8 September, 2011, tools and four wheeler ramps were stolen.
An unlocked Everett Street residence was entered between 8 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. on 9 September, 2011 and electronics were stolen.
A residence on Union Street had the screen removed from a window between 9:00 p.m. on 9 September, 2011 and 3:00 p.m., 10 September, 2011. The culprit(s) subsequently stole jewelry.
The resident of a Murney Street residence reported that between 9 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. unknown person(s) entered the residence by removing a window screen and stole electronics.
The resident of a Coleman Street home reported that between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on 10 September, 2011 unknown person(s) entered their residence by a window and stole electronics.
Belleville, Ontario ? From 10 September, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on 11 September, 2011 members of Belleville Police Service were involved in a RIDE program at various locations throughout the City where 170 vehicles checked.
At 10:47 p.m. members of the RIDE checked a vehicle on Harmony Road. Investigation resulted in the driver of a Hyundai being charged with one count of Operation of Motor Vehicle with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol. Dennis Lynch (58 years) of Thurlow will appear in Provincial court on 29 September, 2011.
Belleville, Ontario ? On 9 September, 2011 at 7:07 a.m., police attended at a residence on Finch Drive in response to a complaint of stolen vehicle. The owner reported that unknown person(s) stole a grey 2010 Toyota Tacoma truck (with Ontario plates 1658XV attached) sometime overnight. This investigation is ongoing.
Belleville, Ontario ? On 9 September, 2011 at 7:50 a.m., police attended at a residence on Howard Street in response to a complaint of a theft of orange and black 250 cc KTM dirt bike (with Ontario plates 88 VRO attached) stolen from the driveway.
Prowl by Night
Belleville, Ontario ? On 11 September, 2011 at 10:51 p.m. police attended at a residence on Frank Street in response to a complaint of an unknown male in the complainant's back yard. Investigation of this incident led to the arrest of 19 year old male of no fixed address for Prowl by Night. This male will appear in Provincial court today for a bail hearing. This investigation is ongoing.
Back to School Safety Enforcement
Belleville, Ontario ? From 6 to 9 September, 2011 members of Belleville Police Service Traffic Management Unit covered 17 of 26 City school zones. This resulted in
64 offence notices for speeding being issued to drivers during the specific times students are travelling to and from school including lunch hours. Two motorists were recorded travelling at 79km/h in the posted 40 zones during this same time frame when the students were going to and from school.
Nine other offence notices were issued including driving while using a cell phone and seatbelt offences. Belleville Police Service will continue to monitor the school and residential zones in the upcoming weeks.
OntarioDistracted Driving Campaign
Belleville, Ontario ? September 12 ? 18, 2011 has been designated as Ontario's Distracted Driving Campaign.
Belleville Police Service will enforce the Ontarios' focus of drivers who are distracted by using their cell phones or other electronic devices while driving and any aggressive driving. Members of Belleville Police Service will be working in conjunction with the Quinte Region Traffic Coalition in various locations throughout Quinte Region as well as within the City.
