Public Intoxication

On April 13th, at 9:30 p.m., an officer on patrol on Moira St East, observed a male passenger in a car throwing a beer bottle out of the car window.  The vehicle was stopped, and one of the passengers fled on foot.  His intoxicated state prevented a clean getaway as he was arrested by responding units.  This 21 year old Belleville man had been celebrating his birthday with friends.  He was arrested for Intoxicated in a Public Place and lodged in the cells for his own protection.

A further search of the vehicle revealed open beer bottles.  The driver, a 21 year old Belleville man, was charged with Open Alcohol in the Vehicle.  This charge carries a fine of $215.00.  In addition, the driver was charged with having an expired Val tag sticker.
