Stunt Driving

Belleville, ON – On December 12th, 2019, at 11:32 a.m. a vehicle was clocked on Harder Drive travelling 95 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone. The 21-year-old driver had his licence suspended for seven days, and his car was impounded for seven days. He will appear in Traffic Court on January 6th, 2020 on a charge of stunt driving.

Motor vehicle collisions

Belleville, ON – On December 12th, 2019, at 3:49 p.m. police attended in the intersection of Dundas Street East and MacDonald Avenue in relation to a two-car collision. A 77-year-old Maryland woman was charged with failing to stop at a red light. There were no injuries.

On December 12th, 2019, at 6:25 p.m. police attended on North Front Street at Strachan Street in relation to a two-car collision. An airbag had been deployed in one of the vehicles. Both cars were towed from the scene. EMS attended and treated the occupants at the scene for minor injuries. A 50-year-old Belleville man was charged with careless driving.

Criminal Harassment/arrest during traffic stop

Belleville, ON – On December 12th, 2019, at 10:39 p.m. police attended at an east end address regarding a criminal harassment complaint. Grounds were established for the arrest of a 26-year-old Belleville man. At 11:33 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on Station Street as the 26-year-old man was a passenger in the car. Another passenger in the rear of the vehicle had an open container of alcohol. This 27-year-old male passenger was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was also charged with having open liquor in a motor vehicle. A check of the 22-year-old driver revealed that he did not have a driver’s licence. He was charged with being an unlicenced driver. The officers heard a knocking from within the trunk area. The trunk lid was opened to reveal a sixth passenger. This male adult had opted to go in the trunk as the car was only outfitted with five seatbelts.

The 26-year-old Belleville man was charged with criminal harassment and two counts of breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing on December 13th, 2019.
