Weekend R.I.D.E.

Belleville, Ontario - Over this past weekend members of the Belleville Police Service participated in the R.I.D.E. program in various locations in the City of Belleville. A total of 1645 vehicles were checked with 6 people being arrested and charged with Criminal Code drinking and driving violations. Police also conducted 9 roadside screening tests, issued 9 drivers licence suspensions, issued 2 G1&G2 licence Highway Traffic violations, and made one Liquor seizure.

Break and Enter

Belleville, Ontario ? December 13, 2009, at 6:00 p.m., a citizen reported a Break & Enter in progress at the Victoria Park canteen. The witness observed a male, described as being in his teens and wearing a black ?hoodie' kick in the door to the canteen. The suspect had fled prior to police arrival. Nothing was taken in this Break & Enter and this incident is still under investigation.

Impaired Driving

Belleville, Ontario ? December 13, 2009, at 5:36 p.m., a 42 year old Campbellford male was arrested for Impaired Driving. An officer on patrol observed a vehicle on Dundas Street West straddling the centre line and passing vehicles using the curb lane. At one point the vehicle crossed over the centre lane to oncoming traffic.

The driver was arrested and subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. He released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in January 2010.

Liquor Licence Act

Belleville, Ontario ? December 13, 2009, at 12:30 a.m., police received a complaint of male wandering into traffic on Bell Blvd. Police located a 25 year old Belleville male who was found to be extremely intoxicated. He was arrested for his own protection under the liquor Licence Act and was later released with a Provincial Offence Notice for this offence.

December 13, 2009, at 1:27 a.m., another male was arrested for Public Intoxication. A 34 year old Belleville man was arrested on North Front Street for his own protection under the liquor Licence Act and was later released with a Provincial Offence Notice for this offence.

December 13, 2009, at 2:05 a.m., a 20 year old Belleville male was found ?pass out' in a building on College Street East. He was arrested for his own protection under the liquor Licence Act and was later released with a Provincial Offence Notice for this offence.

December 13, 2009, at 2:13 a.m., a 20 year old Trenton woman was arrested on North Front Street for her own protection under the liquor Licence Act and was later released with a Provincial Offence Notice for this offence.

Theft

Belleville, Ontario ? December 13, 2009, at 2:40 p.m., a homeowner on College Street East reported a theft from his vehicle from overnight. Suspects removed a large stainless steel tool box containing approximately $2000.00 worth of various hand tools. The vehicle had been parked in the driveway at the time of the theft.
