Under age Driver- Belleville
On the 13thof December an officer on patrol was travelling northbound on North Front St when he was almost struck head on by a southbound car. The officer stopped the vehicle and found it was being operated by a 14yr old female from Belleville. The youth was issued a court date for driving without a licence and turned over to her parents. The vehicle was towed.
RIDE Program- Belleville
Members of Belleville Police Service conducted R.I.D.E. Spot checks at various locations during the evening. Officers checked 170 vehicles and found no impaired drivers. One roadside breath test was conducted with the motorist passing. Police laid two Highway Traffic Act offences during the spot checks.
Impaired Driving- Belleville
On the 12thof December at 11:20Pm an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle southbound on Highway 62 north of Highway 401. The vehicle was observed being operated in an erratic manner. The driver was stopped and investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol. Stephen Downs 50yrs from Belleville is charged with Impaired Operation, over 80mgs, operate motor vehicle no licence, no insurance and use plates not authorized for vehicle. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of January 8, 2015.
