Prescription Drop Off Day May 10th, 2014 - Results

Belleville, Ontario – On May 10, 2014 the Belleville Police Service participated with other Police Services across the Province of Ontario in "Prescription Drug Drop Off Day”.

"Prescription Drug Drop Off Day” encouraged community members to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of old or unused medications.

Citizens of our community utilized the collection site of The Safety Village at The Belleville Police Service – yielding 76 lbs of pharmaceuticals. In 2013 there was approximately 27.5 pounds of pharmaceuticals dropped off. The incredible increase in the collection totals can be attributed to the great public awareness for the need to collect these unwanted pharmaceuticals.

The narcotics and non-narcotics collected will be disposed of.

The Belleville Police Service, in Partnership with The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and Ontario Pharmacists’ Association, wish to thank all who participated, making the event a success.
