Crime Stoppers Tip Assists in Stolen Vehicle Recovery and Arrests
In March 2016, the Traffic Unit of the Belleville Police Service began an investigation into a possible stolen vehicle after receiving a crime stoppers tip. On May 2nd, the vehicle was located and the driver was subsequently charged with Drive while under suspension and the vehicle, a Ford truck, was impounded for further investigation.
On May 4th, 2016, the vehicle was inspected by an expert in vehicle identification and confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen from Niagara Falls, Ontario on October 22, 2015. The original VIN had been removed and replaced with a VIN from another truck. As a result of this investigation, the driver, Rodney Beaudrie, 37 of Belleville, Ontario was also charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property Motor Vehicle with Altered Identification Number and Danielle Earle, 31 of Belleville, Ontario was also charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property Motor Vehicle with Altered Identification. Both were released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of June 16, 2016.
Seven Month Investigation into a Million Dollar Fraud Results in 3 Arrests
Three city residents are facing charges following a seven-month investigation into a million dollar fraud of a local financial institution.
Belleville police were contacted by representatives of the institution in October last year with a complaint regarding the actions of a former employee.
An investigation commenced by the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch which determined in excess of a million dollars had been stolen between January 2010 and June 2015.
Investigators were able to identify three parties involved in the fraud.
Charged are the following persons:
Cheryll DRUMM, 46, of Belleville : Fraud Over $5,000; Theft Over $5,000; Money Laundering and Breach of Trust
George MISURACA, 54, of Belleville : Breach of Trust, Fraud Over $5,000 and Theft Over $5,000
Allan William LASHER, 52, of Belleville : Fraud Over $5,000 and Theft Over $5,000
All three were released on a Promise to Appear with Officer-in-Charge conditions with a court date of June 16, 2016.
The name of the financial institution will not be released by the Belleville Police Service.
