Assault charges

Belleville, Ontario – On October 12th 2018 at 07:09 a.m. police responded to a disturbance at a home in the central portion of the city.  An investigation revealed a man had assaulted a female within the residence.  The victim ran to a neighbour’s home and police were contacted.  A 25-year old city man was arrested.   He faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault, and breach of probation.  The identity of the man, who is being held for a bail hearing, is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Breach of bail condition

Belleville, Ontario – On October 12th 2018 at 1:46 p.m. police responded to a call on the west side of the city for a report of a female who was breaching an earlier bail condition stemming from an assault charge just a day prior.  Police investigated, and arrested 18-year old Katelyn Stacey Matier for breaching a non-communication condition of her earlier undertaking in which she was released with.  She was transported to police headquarters and is being held in custody

pending a bail hearing.

 

Theft of wallet

Belleville, Ontario – On October 12th 2018 at 3:08 p.m. police responded to a report of a theft of a wallet from a location on College Street West.  An investigation revealed an elderly gentleman had his wallet stolen while attending a function at the location.  Police are using available video surveillance at the location to assist in the investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please contact investigating officer Cst. Arrested on warrant

Belleville, Ontario – On October 12th 2018 at 8:37 p.m. police responded to the Pine Street area where a female was recognized as being a wanted person from an earlier theft investigation.  Jessica Leigh Whiteman, aged 32 of Belleville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the offence of theft – under five thousand dollars.  She is being held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

 

Other assistance

Belleville, Ontario – City police responded to numerous calls for assistance between October 12th 2018 at 05:00 a.m. and October 13th 2018 at 5:00 a.m.  These included traffic complaints, 911 hang-ups, assisting ambulance, noise complaints, unwanted persons calls, and child custody disputes.  All were resolved without arrests or charges.
