Pursuit

Belleville, Ontario – On December 11th, 2015 at 7:45 p.m. one of the RIDE Team members was driving on College Street East when he recognized the driver of an oncoming car as a person wanted on outstanding warrants. Both cars turned south off of College St. East and met again on Evans Street. The officer activated his rooflights but the black Jetta refused to pull over. The Jetta continued east on College St. East at a speed of 65 km/h. Once the Jetta reached Airport Parkway the speed increased to 85 km/h. At this point public safety was an issue and the officer discontinued his attempts at trying to stop the car. Further charges of Failing to stop for Police will be laid against the 28 year old Belleville man. Napanee OPP located the vehicle a short time later abandoned in their area. The investigation is continuing.

Attempted theft of ATV’s

Belleville, Ontario – On December 11th, 2015 at 10:10 p.m. police attended on Boswell Street as a homeowner observed two youths attempting to remove his ATV’s from a trailer in his backyard. The homeowner followed the youths who fled the scene. Officers met up with the homeowner and both youths were arrested. A 14 year old youth and a 15 year old youth were charged with theft, mischief, and prowl by night. They were released to their respective parents with a court date of January 19th, 2016.

Assault with a weapon

Belleville, Ontario – On December 12th, 2015, at 1:50 a.m. police attended at an apartment on Front Street in relation to a disturbance. Officers were met by a woman who had been hit over the head with a liquor bottle by an ex-boyfriend. Another male in the apartment had been assaulted by the same male. A 52 year old Belleville man was arrested at the scene. He was held for a bail hearing on charges of assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, and two counts of assault. The woman was treated and released at BGH for her injuries while the male victim refused medical attention.

RIDE Team

Belleville, Ontario  - The Belleville RIDE Team was kept busy again overnight. A total of 375 cars were checked. Three motorists were issued three-day licence suspensions and had their vehicles towed.
