Accidents

Belleville, Ontario On January 13th, 2014, between 5:17 a.m. and 9:17 a.m. police investigated 6 single vehicle accidents. All were attributed to the black ice which made driving conditions treacherous.

At 5:17 a.m. a vehicle slid off the roadway on Old Hwy # 2. There was no damage to the vehicle.

At 5:52 a.m. a vehicle slid off the roadway on College St. East. The vehicle sustained damage and had to be towed.

At 6:44 a.m. a vehicle left the roadway on Old Madoc Road and struck a pole. No one was injured and there were no charges.

At 7:54 a.m. a vehicle slid off the roadway on Cannifton Road at the 401 and struck a pole. No was injured and there were no charges.

At 8:08 a.m. a vehicle slid off the roadway on Marshall Road. No one was injured.

At 9:17 a.m. a vehicle slid off the roadway on Blessington Road into the ditch. The damage was minor and there were no charges.

Five more minor accidents were reported throughout the day for a total of 11.

Break and enter

Belleville, Ontario On January 13th, 2014, at 11:08 p.m. police responded to an alarm at Car Quest on Harriett St. Upon arrival, officers discovered a broken window on the business. A male was observed inside the premises. He was taken into custody and charged with break and enter with intent, possession of break-in tools, and breach of probation. The 41 year old Belleville man was held for a bail hearing.

On January 13th, 2014, at 7:38 a.m. police attended at an Auto Wrecker's on Centre St. in relation to a theft that occurred sometime over the weekend. Thieves stole two catalytic converters and a generator.

Fraud

Belleville, Ontario On January 13th, 2014 at 12:55 p.m. police attended at a business on Millenium Drive in relation to fraudulent act. A 21 year old Belleville man was observed taking two packages of razor blades and proceeding to the customer service desk without paying for the items. At this point the items were returned for a gift card. The male was charged with Fraud under $5000 and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.

Disturbances

Belleville, Ontario On January 13th, 2014, at 8:36 p.m. police attended at a disturbance on Aldersgate Drive. A 41 year old Belleville man was arrested for breach of the peace. No one was injured, and alcohol was a factor in this incident.

On January 13th, 2014, at 9:27 p.m. police attended at a disturbance on Russell St. A 30 year old Belleville man was arrested for public intoxication under the Liquor Licence Act. No one was injured in this incident.
