Belleville, Ontario - On 11 June, 2010 at 1:50 p.m., police responded to a complaint of a fraud. The victim reported that on 8 June, 2010 between 2:00 and 2:20 p.m., an unidentified male telephoned the victim and requested assistance in catching an employee t(hat was believed to be committing internal thefts from the victim's bank). This male requested that the victim attend at the bank, withdraw a predetermined amount of cash and meet a male at another location to deliver the money. The male advised the victim that he'd follow up with a phone call. The phone call never occurred. Police believe that the male(s) involved in this incident intentionally targeted and subsequently defrauded the victim of money.
Police are advising the public to be aware of scams that originate with an unknown person contacting a member of the public and portraying themselves to be investigating an employee of theft. If this occurs police are advising the public to contact a trusted family member or friend and/or the police prior to committing to be involved in such a request.
Theft from Motor Vehicle(s)
Belleville, Ontario ? Sometime between 6:00 p.m. on 11 June, 2010 and 7:00 a.m. on 12 June, 2010 unknown person(s) entered a vehicle on on Albany Heights and one vehicle on Jeanette Place. Tools, tires a trailer hitch and money were stolen. These investigations are ongoing.
Break and Enter/ Mischief Arrest
Belleville, Ontario ? On 13 June, 2010 at 4:20 p.m., police attended at a residence on Union Street, Belleville in response to a complaint of suspicious persons. It is alleged that there were 2 males seen acting suspiciously in more than one of the laundry rooms of the apartment buildings on Union Street. Investigation of this complaint lead to the arrest of Richard Booth (35 years of Quinte West) for 3 counts of Break and Enter, 3 counts of Mischief under $5000.00, Possession of Break In Instruments, Possession of Coin Operated Device Breaking Instrument, this male will appear for a bail hearing on 14 June, 2010 in Provincial Court.
