Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls for service from the 13th of October 2019 at 5:00 a.m. to the 14th of October at 5:00 a.m.

Domestic assault

Belleville, Ontario – On the 13th of October at 9:00 pm police were called to a domestic where a female caller reported that she had been struck in the head with a cutting board by her boyfriend during an argument. The female was taken to Quinte Health Care where she was treated and released for a cut to her head. A male was arrested at the scene and taken to The Belleville Police Service where he was later released on a promise to appear. The 46-year-old Belleville resident was charged with assault with a weapon and given a November 4th court date to answer to the charge. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

 

Public intoxication

Belleville, Ontario – On the 14th of October at 12:25 am police received a report of a male trying car door handles in the parking lot of a north end restaurant and bar. The male was found to be intoxicated and claimed that he was trying to find a car to sleep in as he was from the Marmora area and had no way to get home. Police arrested the 32-year-old male for public intoxication his own protection and provided him shelter at The Belleville Police Service for the night. He was released on a provincial offence notice in the morning.
