Quinte West, Ont. ? Three members of the Belleville Police Service won their respective divisions in the Power lifting event on the weekend at the Ontario Law Enforcement and Fire Games.
First time competitor Eric Shorey, competing in the 100kg division, won a silver medal in the bench-press competition pressing 265lbs. He won the overall gold for the division by squatting 403lbs and dead-lifting 430lbs for a 1,098lb total.
Competing in the 90kg division, Martin Charbonneau had similar lifts winning gold in the bench-press with a 265lb lift, and gold overall by adding his 403lb squat and a 430lb dead-lift, totaling 1,098lbs.
Competing in the sub-master heavyweight division, Brad Lentini won gold with a 419lb bench-press. He added a 535lb squat and a 452lb dead-lift to win the division gold with a 3-lift total of 1,406lbs.
All three officers were sponsored by the Belleville Police Association, and all proceeds from the games are going to the fight against ALS.
Belleville Police Service members as well won silver in the ice hockey competition that was held earlier in the year.
