Theft and Recovery of Vehicle (Charges laid)
Belleville, Ontario - On March 14, 2010, at 6:30 p.m., police responded to Charlotte Street regarding a theft of a motor vehicle. The vehicle owner reported she parked her vehicle in her driveway sometime after 7:30 p.m. the night before and found it missing on the 14th. The vehicle is a 1999, 4 door, purple Neon with plate number AXRF669.
On March 15, 2010 at 12:41 a.m., Police observed a male fuelling this vehicle at Petro Canada on North Front St. As police approached, the male fled from the lot running south bound across College Street East. The officer pursued the suspect on foot and arrested him a short time later hiding in a yard on Grier Street.
A 17 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count each of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Fail to Comply, and Resist Arrest. He will appear in court on March 15, 2010 for a Bail Hearing.
Possession of Marijuana ? (charges laid)
Belleville, Ontario ? On March 15, 2010, at 9:20 p.m., the Belleville Police Service was conducting a RIDE check on Station Street. An approaching vehicle made an abrupt turn in an attempt to avoid the officers and was stopped by police on Reid Street. Officers detected a strong order of Marijuana from within the vehicle. A 17 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana. The male was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date set in April 2010. The name of the youth will not be released due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
