The Belleville Police Service responded to 66 calls for service between December 14th, 2018 at 5:00 a.m. and December 15th, 2018 at 5:00 a.m.

False Alarm of Fire

Belleville, Ontario – On December 14th, 2018 at 4:41 a.m., officers attended at a disturbance at an apartment building on Sidney Street. An audible fire alarm was sounding and Belleville Fire Department also attended. The investigation revealed that there was no fire. The male who pulled the fire alarm was arrested and charged with causing a false alarm of fire and breach of probation. 40-year-old Denny Levi Turcotte, of Belleville, will appear in court on January 17th, 2019.

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, Ontario – On December 14th, 2018, at 4:10 p.m. a motorist was clocked at 104 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Herchimer Avenue. This resulted in a charge of stunt driving against the 18-year-old Belleville man and a court appearance on January 7th, 2019. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence was also suspended for seven days.

On December 14th, 2018, at 5:13 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on Cannifton Road. A 26-year-old Belleville man was charged with driving while under suspension. He will appear in court on January 7th, 2019.

On December 14th, 2018, at 5:48 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on North Front Street. A 20-year-old Shannonville man was charged with driving while under suspension. He will appear in court on January 7th, 2019.

RIDE Program

Belleville, Ontario – On December 14th and 15th, 2018, multiple checkpoints were set up around the City. A total of 267 cars were checked. There were no arrests. One motorist was charged with a licence plate violation.

Recovered stolen vehicle

Belleville, Ontario – On December 11th, 2018, a black 2016 Dodge Journey was reported stolen to the Belleville Police Service. On December 12th, 2018, Prince Edward OPP were alerted to the burnt remains of this vehicle in Ameliasburgh.  Anyone with information surrounding the theft and arson of this vehicle can contact Quinte Crimestoppers or Constable Jeff Sarley at jsarley@police.belleville.on.ca
