Belleville, Ont. ? On the 16th of March, 2009 at 5:33pm Police were notified by Zellers Loss Prevention that they were following a vehicle with a lone male driver whom they had recognized as wanted for shoplifting. Officers attended to a parking lot of a north end business, located the vehicle and male. Investigation revealed that this male was identified for thefts which had occurred on March 9th and 10th from Zellers, as well as a theft that had occurred on March 11th from Wal-Mart and a theft which had occurred on March 15th from A&P. The plates that were attached to the vehicle were stolen and had an altered validation tag. The male also tried to mislead the investigating officers with a false name, but through investigation his true identity was established. A 42 yr old Orillia male is facing charges of 4 counts of Theft, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of probation. He is being held for a bail hearing.
On the 17th of March, 2009 at 1:13am police were called to a North Park Street address regarding a suspicious male observed around some vehicles. Upon officers arrival the male was gone. It was found that 2 vehicles had been entered, by the windows being smashed. Nothing was reported missing from one vehicle. The owner of the other could not be contacted at the time of the report, so it is unknown if anything missing from that vehicle.On the 17th of March, 2009 at 3:02am police were called to a Dundas St. E. address regarding a suspicious male in a vehicle. Upon officers arrival the male had fled. The vehicle had been entered but nothing taken.
