Motor Vehicle Collisions

 

Belleville, Ontario – On April 15th, 2017 police attended at seven (7) accident scenes in a five-hour window between 10:13 a.m. and 3:19 p.m.

  

  • At 10:13 a.m. police attended in the parking lot of 366 N. Front St. in relation to a 3-car accident. One vehicle was towed. There were no charges as the accident occurred on private property.

     

  • At 10:55 a.m. police attended in the parking lot of 110 N. Front St. in relation to a 2-car accident. There were no charges.

     

  • At 1:32 p.m. police attended on Cannifton Road near #199 in relation to a 4-car accident. A southbound car struck a car from behind. The car that was struck hit the car ahead of it before angling off into the path of an oncoming northbound car. There were no injuries. A 34-year old Belleville man was charged with careless driving.

     

  • At 1:51 p.m. police attended in the parking lot of 101 Bell Blvd. in relation to a 2-car accident. One of the vehicles had failed to remain at the scene. The investigation is continuing.

     

  • At 2:10 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Dundas St. West and Palmer Rd. in relation to a 2-car accident. Both cars were towed from the scene. Police are seeking witnesses to this accident. The investigator is A/Sgt. Josefik who can be reached at 966-0882 ext. 2223. There were no injuries.

     

  • At 2:12 p.m. police attended on Whelan Court in relation to a 2-car accident. A 59-year old Belleville woman was charged with failing to yield from a private drive. There were no injuries.

  • At 3:19 p.m. police attended in the parking lot of 94 Sidney Street in relation to a 2-car accident. There were no reported injuries.

     

     

     

    Disturbances

     

    Belleville, Ontario – On April 15th, 2017, at 8:22 p.m. police attended on Russell Place regarding a disturbance. A 24-year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place. No one was injured.

     

    On April 16th, 2017, at 2:00 a.m. police attended at a bar on Front Street in relation to an unwanted male. A 20-year-old Picton man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was issued a provincial offence notice.

     

    On April 16th, 2017, at 4:45 a.m. police attended on Bridge St. East at Charles Street regarding a disturbance involving three people. Three people were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place – a 26-year-old male, a 27-year-old female, and a 28-year-old female – all from Belleville. No one was injured.

     

     

    Drug seizure

     

    Belleville, Ontario – On April 15th, 2017, at 9:30 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Bridge St. West.  A check revealed that the driver was prohibited from driving by the Criminal Courts. During the arrest, officers seized heroin and marijuana. 31-year-old Drew David Stone of Belleville was charged with driving while prohibited, and possession of heroin and marijuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He will appear in court on May 18th, 2017.

     

     

    R.I.D.E. checks

     

    Belleville, Ontario – On April 15th, 2017, at 9:29 a.m. officers conducted a joint RIDE check with OPP officers on West Moira St.  A total of 81 cars were checked. There were no charges.

     

    On April 15th, 2017, at 10:45 p.m. officers set up on Station Street. A total of 25 cars were checked. There were no charges.

     

    3-day suspension

     

    Belleville, Ontario – On April 16th, 2017, at 4:35 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Bridge St. East.  The driver was placed on the roadside screening device. The 27-year-old Belleville woman registered a “warn”. Her licence was suspended for three days and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
