Fire – Update

Belleville, Ontario – The investigation into a fatal fire at a residence on Grier Street is continuing between the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal, the Belleville Fire Department and the Criminal Investigations Branch of the Belleville Police Service.

Thirty-eight-year-old Roger Duncan SAUNDERS was removed from the residence shortly after the fire broke out, transported to Belleville hospital by paramedics where he was later pronounced deceased.

A post-mortem is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday in Ottawa to determine the cause of death.

Belleville, Ontario -   On Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 12:46 am, police responded to a residence on Grier Street to assist the Belleville Fire Department at this location.  A 38 year old adult male was rescued from the residence by firefighters and transported by EMS to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.    The identity of this male will not be released pending next of kin notification.    The Ontario Fire Marshall has been notified and this investigation will be continuing.
