Fail to Remain

Belleville, Ont., - On 16 February 2009 at about 1:30 am,  police responded to a Fail to Remain motor vehicle collision, where a vehicle appears to have struck a pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene.  Investigation is continuing.

 

 Disturbance / Mischief
Belleville, Ont., - On 16 February 2009, at about 2:30am, police received multiple complaints of a large disturbance at a North Front Street bar.  Police broke up one fight and required the use of a Taser to subdue an assaultive male who was resisting arrest.  During the altercation a vehicle close by sustained damage.  A 22 year old Belleville male and a 21 year old Campbellford male were arrested for Public Intoxication, Cause Disturbance by Fighting and Mischief to Property.  Both males were later released with court dates in March of 2009.
 

Impaired Driver

Belleville, Ont., - On 16 February 2009, at about 3:50am police were called to North Front Street after several traffic complaints were received of a possible drunk driver.  Police located the vehicle and subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver for Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs.  As a result, a 42 year old Belleville man faces charges of Impaired Driving and Over 80mgs. The accused was released from custody on a Promise to Appear with a court date in March 2009.  
 
Fail to Remain
Belleville, Ont., - On February 16 2009, at 6:00 p.m., Officers attended on MacDonald Ave. in relation to a hit and run accident.  It was learned that a parked car had been struck by another car, which failed to remain at the scene. As a result of information obtained from a witness, the suspect vehicle and driver were located.  There were no injuries in this matter.   

An 18 year old Belleville has been charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident under the Highway Traffic Act.  He was also charged with Failing to have Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  He will appear in Traffic Court in March.
