Belleville, ONT – Police responded to six 9-1-1 hang-up calls in the previous 24 hours. Officers and city police dispatch were able to either communicate by telephone or attend the location the calls originated from to find out they were pocket-dials, made in error (calling for 411 assistance, but dialing 911), and one where a female was dialing to Europe, but became engaged in the 9-1-1 process instead. None of the calls proved to be first-responder / rescue related, and nobody was found to be in any distress.
Belleville, ONT – Having received numerous complaints from the public about speeding motor vehicles in the city’s west side, traffic safety unit officers handed out 20 provincial offence notices to drivers speeding in the area during the afternoon of February 15th.
Belleville, ONT- Police responded to a theft of stolen tools from Canadian Tire at 6:21 p.m. An investigation revealed the theft actually occurred earlier in the week, and store security confirmed a suspect was located on video. Police are looking to identify a white female between 40-50 years of age, with a large build weighing between 200-250lbs. She has brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a blue and white stone-washed sweater with darker blue-coloured mittens hanging on the sides. She was carrying a jug of windshield washer fluid in her left hand upon exiting the store. She also appears to have a brown leather purse strapped over her left shoulder. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigating officer Cst.
