Robbery

Belleville, Ontario ? On May 15th, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. Police observed a male on Station Street matching the description of a Robbery suspect from May 11th. When approached, the suspect fled on foot. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit. This male was positively identified as being the shoplifter from May 11th at a west end retail outlet. During that incident, the suspect concealed women's underwear and bras in his backpack and left the store without paying for any of the items. When he was confronted by store security outside the store, the suspect brandished a knife. The suspect then fled on foot. A 50 year old Belleville man has been held for a Bail Hearing on May 16th on charges of Robbery with a Weapon, Weapons Dangerous, and Escape Lawful Custody.

Disturbances

Belleville, Ontario ? On May 15th, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. Police attended at west end apartment building with regards to a disturbance. A 32 year old woman, Chemi Rhidar, was arrested at the scene. She was charged with assault on another adult female and released with a June courtdate. The victim received minor injuries.

At 8:30 p.m., Police attended at another west end apartment building with regards to numerous complaints about an unruly tenant. An intoxicated 51 year old Belleville man was arrested in the hallway. He was charged with being intoxicated in a common area.

On May 16th, 2012, at 12:30 a.m., Police attended at a Front St. apartment building with regards to a disturbance. A 31 year old Belleville man was arrested for threatening to kill three people. He had also pulled a knife on one of the occupants. He has been held for a Bail Hearing on Three counts of Uttering Death Threats, Weapons Dangerous, and Unlawfully in a Dwelling House. The accused suffered minor injuries in the skirmish.

Impaired Driving

Belleville, Ontario ? On May 15th, 2012, at 7:15 p.m., a motorist phoned Police to report an impaired driver. The vehicle was stopped on Yeomans St. by Police. A 39 year old Shannonville man was arrested for Impaired Driving. A further check revealed that he was a Prohibited Driver as he had recently lost his licence for an impaired driving conviction. The driver was held for a Bail Hearing on charges of Impaired Driving, Over 80 mgs. Drive while Prohibited, and Breach of Probation. Under the Vehicle Impoundment Program, the vehicle he was driving was seized for 45 days.
