Impaired Operation

Belleville, Ontario - 17 April, 2010 at 2:48 a.m. police were notified of a possible impaired driver that had hit a curb in the parking lot of a business on Cannifton Road. Police attended at that business and observed a wheel that had been dislodged and left behind from the vehicle that was allegedly being operated by an impaired driver.

Police followed gouge marks left on the roadway from a vehicle that was missing a wheel. Police continued to follow the gauge marks and eventually ended up on West Street.

Once on West Street police observed a vehicle on the roadway that was occupied by a lone male. Police noted at this time, the vehicle was missing the front passenger wheel, the rear tire was flat and there was heavy damage to the front bumper .Further investigation lead to the male that was in vehicle being arrested for alleging having care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired.

Nicolas Gilmour (24 years) of Burlington has been charged with having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle while his ability was impaired and Care and Control of Motor Vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol. Gilmour will appear in Provincial court on 27May, 2010.
