Belleville Police Running Team Launches New Program
The Belleville Police Running Team announced today that it will launch a new program, Build a Player, in the City of Belleville that will compliment the Quinte Children's Foundation's Playing for Keeps Program.
Miranda Orr, spokesperson for the Belleville Police Running Team explains, "the Build a Player Program will receive donations of gently used hockey equipment for children and youth until the end of June, so that children, who register for hockey using the Playing for Keeps Program at Quinte Children's Foundation, can also have access to the equipment they will need to participate in the sport.?
Donations of all hockey equipment, that is gently used and in good shape will be accepted at two local churches; East Minister United Church on the corner of Herchimer and Bridge St Monday ? Friday between 9:00 ? 5:00 and the Maranatha Church on College St Tuesday ? Friday between 9:00 ? 5:00 beginning immediately through the end of June 2010.
Orr further says "hockey season is over for another year, and many of us are cleaning out basements and preparing for summer sports. It's a great way to recycle equipment and to give back to the kids in our community?. Distribution of the equipment will begin in August in time for the registration dates of local minor hockey leagues.
The Belleville Police Running Team consists of five local police officers, Miranda Orr, Mike Kiley, Jeff Ling, Darryl Irwin and Aaron Bucci who actively raise funds in support of the Quinte Children's Foundation.
