The Belleville Police Service responded to 55 calls between October 16th 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and October 17th 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Suspicious fire

Belleville, ONT – On October 16th 2019 at 5:27 p.m. Belleville Firefighters and police were called to a suspicious fire in the far east end of the city.  An investigation revealed a garage had become fully engulfed in flames and was destroyed.  Further investigation revealed a break-in to a home on the same property.  Windows were smashed, and an ignitable liquid was located to have been poured about the home.  There were no injuries reported.  Belleville Fire and Forensic Investigators remain at the scene for further investigation. Robbery

Belleville, ONT – On October 16th 2019 at 6:43 p.m. police responded to a 911 call at a convenience store in the north end of the city.  An investigation revealed that an employee of the store had been sprayed with an unknown substance, but he was able to follow the suspect out of the store.  A physical altercation occurred outside the store involving the employee and two unidentified males.  The employee suffered serious injuries and was transported to Kingston Hospital by EMS.  The first male suspect is described as tall with a thin build, wearing red pants with a white stripe, a camouflaged hoodie, and carrying a dark coloured bag.  The description of the second male is limited to just dark clothing.  Both suspects were last seen driving southbound on Cannifton Road North in a dark coloured vehicle, possibly a Hyundai.  Police are asking anyone with information to please contact investigating officers Detective-Sergeant Ian Jarvis #70 at (613) 966-0882 ext. 2312 or by e-mail at: ijarvis@police.belleville.on.ca or Detective-Constable Corey McGee #164 at (613) 966-0882 ext. 2308 or by e-mail at: cmcgee@police.belleville.on.ca or by calling Quinte Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
