The Belleville Police Service responded to 76 calls for service between April 16th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and April 17th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Traffic Enforcement

Belleville, Ontario – On the 16th of April 2019, at 4:35 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Hwy 37 North as the officer recognized the driver and knew she was disqualified. As a result, a 56 year-old female was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle while being disqualified. She was transported to the Belleville Police Service where she was released on a promise to appear.

Belleville, Ontario – On the 17th of April 2019, at 1:30 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle for having a burnt-out front headlight. Through investigation, police revealed that the 24 year-old Belleville man was driving while under suspension. As a result, the male was charged for driving while under suspension and was given a May court date to face the charges.

Domestic Assault

Belleville, Ontario – On the 16th of April 2019, at 11:00 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance in the East end of the City. An investigation ensued resulting in a 40 year-old Belleville man being arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of uttering death threats. The male is being held for bail.

Disturbance on the Water Front Trail

Belleville, Ontario – On the 16th of April 2019, at 10:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on the Water Front Trail between a fisherman and a 58 year-old Belleville man. It was reported to police that the fisherman was receiving threats by the man who was wielding a knife and uttering threats. Subsequent to a police investigation, the 58 year-old male was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and mischief.
