Belleville, Ont. - As part ofthe strategy to reduce violence and prevent gangs from establishing themselves in Belleville, The Belleville Police Service Anti-Violence / Guns & Gangs Unit, together with Centennial Secondary School will behosting Rick OSBORNE, a gangand youthviolence expert.

Students, parents, Police and media will hear Rickspeak about thetruth regarding gangs, drugs and criminal activity.

Using his past to frame his message, Rick Osborne will connect with youth about the dangers of criminal activity, drug addiction and gang membership. Rick's criminal activity eventually led him to the Federal Penitentiary system where he was incarcerated for 24.5 years, in 33 different institutions across Canada.

His messages are powerful for students and adults alike. He doesn't glamorize any of his experiences, but talks about supporting friends, making good choices, recognizing that people make mistakes and how each person can be the one to make a positive difference in someone's life.
