The Belleville Police Service responded to 58 calls between August 17th 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and August 18th 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Domestic Assault

Belleville ON –On 17 August 2019, at 11:30 a.m., police received a 911 call regarding a domestic assault. Police were advised that a female was being attacked by a male. The male suspect had fled prior to police arrival. The victim was treated on scene for minor injuries including a cigarette burn. Later in the evening at 10:05 p.m., police received a call that the suspect had returned to the residence. Police quickly attended, and the suspect was arrested. A 41-year-old man from Toronto was arrested on charges of assault and assault with a weapon. He was held for a bail hearing. His name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim.  

Break in to shed, bike stolen

Belleville ON- On 17 August 2019, Belleville Police took a complaint of a break in to a shed at an east hill address. The unknown suspect(s) stole a grey Louis Garneau Urbania bicyle was stolen. Anyone with information of the theft is asked to call Belleville Police

Late night martial arts leads to complaint

Belleville ON- On 17 August 2019, at 9:50 p.m., Belleville Police took a complaint of a male who reportedly had a bat and was striking a fence and tree in an east end schoolyard. Police attended and spoke with a male who advised he was practicing taekwondo in the schoolyard. The male agreed delay his practice until the daylight hours.
