Motor vehicle collisions

Belleville, ONT – On August 17th 2018 police investigated three motor vehicle collisions.  One collision was handled through the Collision Reporting Centre.  Another collision occurred at 10:11 a.m. in the area of North Front Street and Valleyview Crescent.  One vehicle backed out of a parking space striking a vehicle which was stopped at the intersection awaiting a red light.  There were no injuries, but a ‘failing to remain’ investigation is underway as the offending vehicle left the area.  Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this is asked to contact investigating officer Cst. Crash sends one to hospital

Belleville, ONT - On August 17th 2018 at 7:50 a.m.  police were called to Old Highway 2 for a report of a collision involving heavy damage and injuries.  Belleville Fire Services also assisted in the emergency.  An investigation revealed that one motor vehicle traveling westbound was struck by another vehicle which was traveling eastbound which had crossed the center line.  A 54-year old city man was transported to hospital with minor injuries while a 21-year old city man was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.  Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact investigating officer Cst. Theft charge

Belleville, ONT – On August 17th 2018 at 1:24 p.m. police were called to a north end shopping center for a report of a man stealing merchandise.  An investigation resulted in 30-year old Matthew Harvey getting arrested and charged with theft – under $5,000.00.  He was released from custody on an appearance notice to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in September.

 

Liquor charges

Belleville, ONT – On August 17th 2018 at 2:17 p.m. police responded to a call for assistance regarding an intoxicated male at a business in the north end of the city.  A 30-year old Consecon, Ontario man was arrested by authority of the Liquor Licence Act for his own protection.  The man was transported to police headquarters and placed to a holding cell.  He was released later once sober.

Belleville, ONT – On August 18th 2018 at 2:20 a.m. police responded to a disturbance on Front Street.  A 22-year old Stirling, Ontario female was arrested for her own protection.  She was taken into custody and placed to a holding cell at police headquarters.  She was released later in the day on an offence notice for public intoxication.
