Accidents

 

Belleville, Ontario On January 17th, 2015, police responded to 6 accidents throughout the City.  Four were deemed to be minor accidents.

 

On January 17th, 2015, at 10:45 a.m. police attended at College Street East at North Park Street in relation to a two-car accident.  A 34 year old Belleville man was charged with driving while under suspension and start from a stopped position not in safety.  He will appear in Traffic Court on February 23rd, 2015 on these matters.  No one was injured.

 

On January 17th, 2015, at 4:05 p.m. police attended on Hwy 2 East in relation to a two car accident.  A 26 year old Belleville woman was charged with unsafe lane change. There were no reported injuries.  One of the vehicles was towed.

 

 

Arrest on Warrants

 

Belleville, Ontario On January 18th, 2015, at 2:30 a.m. police attended in the parking lot of the Avalon Motel on North front Street in relation to an intoxicated male stumbling around.  Officers observed a male passed out in a snowbank. This male was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act.  A further check showed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants in Belleville from 2008.  Those charges included impaired driving, over 80 mgs, drive while prohibited, and fail to appear in court.  He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Refusal

 

Belleville, Ontario On January 18th, 2015, at 2:15 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Dundas Street West at Baybridge Road. The driver was placed on the roadside screening device as he had been drinking. After multiple attempts the driver was arrested for failing to provide a roadside breath sample. He was also charged with driving while under suspension, and driving with no insurance. The 31 year old Picton man will appear in court on January 29th, 2015.  His car was towed from the scene.

 

 

 

RIDE Program

 

Belleville, Ontario On January 17th/18th, 2015, a RIDE team checked 185 cars throughout the City. One motorist was arrested for drug offences as officers detected an odour of marijuana coming from his car.  He was released unconditionally as trace amounts of marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. An alternate driver was arranged for the vehicle. During another checkpoint, a motorist provided a roadside breath sample and passed.
