Criminal Investigations Branch lays charges in Voyeurism Investigation;
Belleville, Ont. – Members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation in early February 2017, regarding the proprietor of a Belleville business inappropriately video recording clients without their consent or knowledge. These videos involved both adults and children under the age of 18.
Investigation revealed that this had been ongoing for many years.
On Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 the members of the Belleville Police Service – Criminal Investigations Unit, Technical Crimes Unit, and members of the Toronto Police Service – Central Field Command - Investigative Support Unit attended an address in Toronto and executed a search warrant.
Anthony Garry Solomon, 69 years old of Toronto, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences;
Voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person over the age of 18 years contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code
Voyeurism – surreptitiously recording images of a person under the age of 18 years contrary to Section 162(1) of the Criminal Code
Possession of Child Pornography contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code
Making child pornography contrary to section 163.1(2) of the Criminal Code
Solomon was released from custody in Toronto with strict conditions and will appear in Belleville Court on the 17th of August, 2017.
The investigation is ongoing and police are currently in the process of notifying numerous victims.
