Motor vehicle collision

 

Belleville - Police, fire and ambulance were called to a north end restaurant shortly before 10:30 A.M. on the 17th of June after a vehicle was driven over a parking curb stone and struck a pedestrian before hitting a natural gas line causing it to leak. Patrons of the restaurant and nearby gas station were evacuated and the area was closed down until Union Gas could attend and repair the leak. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was taken to Belleville General Hospital for observation. No charges are anticipated at this point in the investigation.

 

 

Shoplifter

Belleville - At 10:30 A.M. on the 17th of June police attended a north end retail store with regards to a report of a male who was removing tags from merchandise and putting them in his back pack. Store security had the 34 year old Belleville resident in custody when police arrived. Jeremy Way was charged with theft under $5000 and released on an appearance notice with a July court date to answer to the charge.

 

 

Impaired driver

Belleville – Shortly after 4:00 P.M. on the 17th of June 2018 police received a report of a fail to remain accident where a male driving a red pickup truck struck a pole in the city’s downtown core and fled. Police located the vehicle and driver in the west end of the city a short time later and he was arrested for impaired driving. 53 year old Belleville resident Timothy Young was taken to The Belleville Police Service for further investigation. His blood alcohol level was found to be above the legal limit and he was charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He was released on a promise to appear with a July court date to answer to the charges.
