Impaired Driver

Belleville, Ontario - On the 18th of May 2009 in the early hours, Officers set up RIDE checks at several locations throughout the night. Shortly after 2:00am a vehicle was observed attempting to avoid the RIDE which was set up on North Front St. 
The vehilce was stopped and a 20yr old Trenton man failed the roadside test and was then arrested for Over 80Mgs. The male was susquently charged with having "Over 80 Mgms".  He was released with a court date in June 2009.
Attempted Robbery - Purse Snatching
Belleville, Ontario - On the 18th of May 2009 at approximately 4:43pm, Police were called to the area of Pinnacle Street and Campbell Street to a report of an attempted Purse Snatching.  The victim had been walking on the street when she was approached by a male who attempted to take her purse and cell phone from her hands. The male suspect is described as male, white, approximately 17 - 18 years old, 5'10", slim to medium build with short dark hair, blue eyes and was observed wearing a red hoody with a dark design or lines all around the sweater and baggy blue jeans. He may have possibly been with a second male who was in the area wearing a white hoody with black designs.  This incident is still under investigation.

CDSA and Liquor Licence Act

Belleville, Ontario ? On the 18th of May 2009 at approximately 11:00pm, Police received separate reports of an intoxicated woman causing problems at two different licensed establishments on Front Street. Officers attended in the downtown core and upon observing Police, the female attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody.  She was arrested for Public Intoxication.  She was also found to be in possession of a bag of Marijuana.  As a result she was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and later released.
