At approximately 11:50 pm on April 18, 2013 police were called to the Catharine Street /Sinclair Street area of the city to investigate a report of a large disturbance. Upon arrival they observed a male youth assaulting another male by punching him repeatedly in the head. When the officers intervened he fought with them before fleeing and a foot chase ensued. He was arrested a short distance away and was transported to the Belleville Police Service. The investigation let them to a second male who had also been involved in assaulting the same victim prior to police arrival by kicking him while he was on the ground. The second suspect was also arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service. The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require any medical attention. The first suspect, a 17 year old youth faces the following charges: Assault, Assault With Intent to Resist Arrest, two counts of Breach of Probation, and two counts of Breach of Recognizance.

The second suspect, a 19 year old Belleville man faces charges of Assault and Breach of Probation. Both were held for Show Cause Hearings on April 19, 2013.
