Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, Ontario – On April 18th, 2017, at 12:26 p.m. police attended on Moira Street West at Tripp Avenue in relation to a two-car accident. One person was treated by EMS for minor injuries. A 37-year-old Belleville woman was charged with careless driving.

On April 18th, 2017, at 5:56 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Byron Street and West Street in relation to a two-car accident. A 56-year-old Belleville woman was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. Both drivers sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Intoxicated persons

Belleville, Ontario – On April 18th, 2017, at 7:27 p.m. police attended on the third floor of an apartment building on Brown Street in relation to a male sleeping on the floor. A 50-year-old male of no fixed address was arrested for being intoxicated in a common area under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice.

On April 18th, 2017, at 7:38 p.m. police attended on Bridge Street East with regards to an intoxicated male. A second call was received that the male was in the backyard of a residence on Burnham Street. A 33-year-old Belleville man was located and arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice.

R.I.D.E. Check

Belleville, Ontario – On April 18th, 2017, at 11:35 p.m. officers set up a RIDE checkpoint on Hwy 2 East at Mitchell Road. A total of 57 cars were checked.

One motorist had an open bottle of beer. He was charged with having open alcohol in a vehicle. He was required to provide a breath sample and ended up passing.

There was also a seizure of marijuana from another vehicle. No charges were laid.

Another driver produced a G1 licence. He was charged with a novice driver violation as there was not another licenced driver in the car. His car was towed from the scene.
