Accidents

Belleville, Ontario – On December 18th, 2015, officers responded to seven accidents throughout the city.

At 6:55 a.m. officers attended on Cannifton Road for a minor accident.

At 9:04 a.m. officers attended on Singleton Drive as a school bus had been struck by another vehicle. A vehicle was reversing out of a driveway and struck the school bus as it was slowing to pick up some students. One child on the bus had a complaint of a minor injury but did not require medical assistance. A 62 year old Brighton man was charged with failing to yield from a driveway.

At 10:30 a.m. officers attended at a Sidney St. parking lot for a minor accident involving a car and a light standard.

At 10:57 a.m. officers attended on Bridge Street West at Yeomans St. in relation to a two-car accident. One driver was transported to BGH by EMS for minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. A 62 year old Belleville man was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.

At 11:00 a.m. officers attended at a Bell Blvd parking lot for a minor accident.

At 12:54 p.m. officers attended at the intersection of Church St. and Victoria Ave in relation to a two-car accident. There were no injuries in this matter and no charges were laid.

At 4:14 p.m. officers attended at the intersection of Dundas St. east and Church St. in relation to a three-car accident. There were no injuries.

Traffic stop leads to arrests

Belleville, Ontario - On December 18th, 2015, at 9:04 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on Bell Blvd.  A 20 year old Tyendinaga man provided a breath sample and was issued a three-day licence suspension. A further check revealed that he had stolen licence plates on his car. During the arrest marijuana was also located. He will appear in court in February 2016 on charges of possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana.  He was also charged with no insurance and novice driver – driving with a blood alcohol level above zero. A 14 year old passenger was arrested once marijuana was located on him. The youth was placed in the rear of a cruiser and the youth damaged the interior of the cruiser. He will appear in Belleville Youth court in January of 2016 on a charge of Mischief under $5000.

RIDE Program

Belleville, Ontario – The RIDE Team checked 330 cars at various checkpoints throughout the City. One motorist provided a roadside sample and was issued a three-day licence suspension.

A traffic stop by an officer on patrol on Hwy 62 at Millenium Parkway at 3:40 a.m.led to another three-day licence suspension.
