Dangerous Activity / Trespassing
Belleville, Ont., - On the 19th of January 2009, at 10:05 a.m., Police received a report that a youth was observed trespassing on CN Tracks and hopping on a stopped train behind King George Square. The youth was wearing beige pants, navy sweat shirt and a black ball hat. The youth was seen grabbing the ladder of the CN freight train and as the train started travelling eastbound the youth was still hanging on. The train was contacted and came to a stop at Airport Parkway. Train crew searched the train but the youth was no longer on board. Police confirmed there was one set of foot prints in the area of the tracks behind Ridley Street and it appears the youth may have jumped from the train in this area.
Police would like to remind the public that sadly, we encounter too many people still using the tracks as a pathway or crossing them dangerously, resulting in severe injuries.

Our railway safety messages are very straight forward - walking or playing on train tracks is dangerous and could lead to serious injuries or death.

The only safe way to cross railway tracks is to use designated crossings, and to obey all signs and signals.
