Big Music Fest 2010

Belleville, Ontario ? The Belleville Police Service responded 87 Calls for Service from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday June 19th to 4:00 a.m. on June 20th.

Police generated 27 calls for service at Zwicks Island Park as a direct result of the Big Music Fest. These calls were created after 5 p.m. up until the park closed.

Although it was a very busy night for police they are pleased to report there were no serious incidents investigated as a result of this event. The majority of the calls were in relation to intoxicated persons.

Of the 27 CFS, police arrested 16 people for Intoxicated in a Public Place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

In one of these incidents a 31 year woman was arrested for public intoxication and during the arrest while attempting to resist she bit the officer on the hand. Once searched police also found her to be in possession of marijuana. Charged with one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Public Intoxication and Assault Police with intent to Resist Arrest is Karine Lalonde of Foxboro. She was released with a court date set in June 2010.

Police also found and seized several items left behind in the park by patrons. Property ranged from cameras, sunglasses, wallets, identification and cash. If citizens, who attended the Big Music fest, find they are missing some of their property they can call the police service to claim and pick up this property anytime on Monday morning after 8:00 a.m.

Robbery (NOT related to the Big Music Fest)

Belleville, Ontario ? On June 19, 2010, at 12:35 a.m. police responded to a Robbery at Tina's Pizza on Cannifton Road.

The initial description provided to police was a male suspect wearinga black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, in possession of a silver handgun and possibly leaving the scene on a bicycle.

Police arrived on scene within minutes and further investigation revealed the suspect walked towards the counter, pointed a small silver handgun at the employee and demanded money. The male suspect was last seen southbound on Cannifton Road.

Further description of the suspect is male, 25 to 30 years old, thin face with a pale complexion, wearing a black zippered hoodie with white letters or design on the right front chest area, wearing gloves and possibly having sandy blonde coloured hair.

Further to this, three vehicles that had been parked in the parking lot of this business were found to be damaged. The tires of the three vehicles were punctured and it is believed the suspect may have done this, prior to the actual robbery, in an attempt to prevent employees from following him.

Police were unable to locate the suspect at the time this was reported however are continuing their investigation.
