Mental Health Act:

Shortly after 8:00am this morning police were dispatched to the south-east area of the city for a report of a male suffering from depressed and suicidal thoughts. After conducting an investigation, a 40 year-old city man was apprehended under the authority of the Mental Health Act. He was transported, without incident to Quinte Healthcare Corp. for immediate assistance.

Weapons Arrest:

Shortly after 9:00am this morning members of the uniform division and containment unit arrested a 39 year-old Belleville man who was wanted on several outstanding criminal charges for weapons offences. Police attended the south-east end home and arrested the man without incident. He is currently in custody and will have a show-cause hearing on charges of: Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of possessing a weapon with a defaced serial number.

Mischief:

Earlier this morning police responded to the old Stewart Warner property in the Pine St and MacDonald Ave area for a report of a broken window. An investigation revealed that an object had been tossed through the large window causing extensive damage. Police are continuing this investigation.

Warrants:

Belleville Police responded to a call from the Napanee OPP just before the noon hour today. Information was exchanged between the two agencies regarding a 21 year-old female who had just had her disposition confirmed in Napanee court. It was learned Belleville Police held arrest warrants for the female. Officers from Belleville attended to retrieve the prisoner. She was brought to Provincial Court in Belleville and remanded for a show cause hearing to be held on March 20th on charges including failing to attend court, two counts of breach of probation, and one count of communicating for the purposes of prostitution.
