Motor vehicle collisions
Belleville, Ontario – On May 18th, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. police attended on Dundas Street West at Bay Bridge Road as a pedestrian had been struck by a car. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was running to catch the bus when he tripped and fell into traffic. He was run over by a car at this point. The male adult pedestrian was transported to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. There were no charges.
On May 18th, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. police attended at the intersection of Church Street and Victoria Avenue regarding a two-car accident. One motorist was charged with disobeying a red light. There were no injuries.
On May 18th, 2018, at 12:25 p.m. police attended at the intersection of North Front Street and Tracey Street in relation to a two-car accident. Belleville Fire Department attended as smoke was billowing from one of the vehicles. There were no injuries and the investigation is continuing.
On May 18th, 2018, at 3:56 p.m. police attended at the intersection of Dundas Street East and MacDonald Avenue in relation to a two-car accident. One motorist was charged with disobeying a red light. There were no injuries.
Belleville, Ontario – On May 18th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. police attended on Millennium Parkway in relation to a shoplifter on the run. The male was located on North Front Street and arrested. A quantity of crystal meth was located during the search. The 25-year-old Belleville man was charged with theft under $5000.00, possession of crystal meth, and two counts of breach of probation. He will appear in court on June 21st, 2018.
Belleville, Ontario – On May 18th, 2018, at 4:55 a.m. officers attended at the Emergency Department at BGH in relation to an aggressive male. A check on the 31-year-old Belleville man revealed that he was wanted by the Belleville Police Service on a charge of breach of undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing on May 18th.
On May 18th, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. police attended at a family disturbance at a residence on Hwy 37. The officers cleared this call and were called back to investigate another dispute in a car on Cannifton Road at Bell Blvd. at 5:00 p.m. An 18-year old Belleville woman was removed from the car and arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. There were no charges.
On May 18th, 2018, at 5:29 p.m. police responded to a disturbance on the Riverfront Trail downtown. A 51-year old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He also had open alcohol which was seized. A 66-year Belleville woman tried to prevent the officers from arresting the male. For her obstruction she was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace. The male was issued two provincial offence notices for his liquor infractions. The woman was not charged.
On May 19th, 2018, at 12:54 a.m. police attended at a North Front Street licenced establishment regarding an unruly patron. A 36-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. She was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
