The Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service between January 18th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and January 19th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Pedestrian struck by car

Belleville, Ontario – On January 18th, 2019 at 7:10 a.m., officers attended on North Front Street at Donald Street as a pedestrian had been struck by a car. Paramedics attended and transported the male adult to BGH for treatment of minor injuries. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian had failed to cross the street at a crosswalk. The investigation is continuing.

Arrest in business break and enter

Belleville, Ontario – On January 18th, 2019 at 11:38 p.m., officers responded to an alarm call at a business on Hanna Court. The responding officers discovered an insecure door. Located near the point of entry was a pry bar and a hatchet. A male was observed inside with a flashlight. He was arrested inside the building without incident. Paul Laroche-Davidson, 41 years of age, of Belleville, was charged with break and enter with intent and possession of break-in tools. He will appear in court on February 28th, 2019.

Animal bite

Belleville, Ontario – On January 19th, 2019 at 12:45 a.m., officers attended on Dundas Street West between Sidney and Wilkie Streets in relation to a male who had been bit by an animal. The 50-year-old male required medical attention to treat a large gash on his leg. He was transported to BGH by paramedics. The male, who had been drinking at the time, simply described the animal as a “large dog”. Any information on this animal can be forwarded to A/Sgt. Dave Johnson at djohnson@police.belleville.on.ca
