The Belleville Police Service responded to 61 calls for service between February 28th, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. and March 1st, 2019 at 5:00 a.m.

Motor vehicle collision with injuries

Belleville, Ontario – On February 28th, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., police attended on Bridge Street West at James Street in relation to a two-car collision. The airbags had been deployed in both vehicles. Two people were transported by paramedics to BGH for treatment of minor injuries. A driver was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.

 

Arrest on warrants

Belleville, Ontario – On February 28th, 2019 at 10:21 a.m., police attended at 15 Victoria Avenue in relation to a male wanted on outstanding warrants. 35-year-old Nathan Dobratz of Belleville was arrested on his warrant. He will appear in court on March 21st, 2019 on a charge of breach of probation.

On February 28th, 2019 at 11:38 a.m., police attended on MacDonald Avenue in relation to a male stumbling into traffic. The male was located and arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. Further investigation revealed that this male had provided the officer with a false name as he had several warrants for his arrest. 39-year-old Brian Orford of Belleville was charged with obstructing police. His warrants were for theft under $5000.00 and failing to appear in court. He was released with a court date of March 21st, 2019.

On February 28th, 2019 at 2:36 p.m., police attended on Union Street. A 23-year-old Belleville man was arrested on warrants held by the Peterborough Police Service. He was turned over to an escort team from Peterborough.

Impaired Driver

Belleville, Ontario – On February 28th, 2019 at 9:48 p.m., a 911 caller advised that a truck was swerving on College Street West at Sidney Street. The vehicle continued north on Sidney Street to Tracey Park Drive where it was intercepted by police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. 50-year-old Dwayne Allan Eastman of Belleville was charged with impaired driving and over 80 mgs. He will appear in court on March 14th, 2019.
