Belleville, Ontario ? On 01 January 2012 at 11:50 a.m., an officer clocked a speeding car at 117 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Hwy 37 in Thurlow Ward. A 25 year old Ottawa man was charged with stunt driving as the offence was in excess of 50 km/h of the speed limit. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

A further check revealed that this man had an outstanding charge with a condition not to associate with an individual. It was learned that this individual was a passenger in his vehicle. The male was arrested and charged with Breach of a Recognizance. The male was released with a February courtdate.

About 45 minutes later, this accused was observed walking on Station St. in Belleville with the same person that he was not allowed to associate with. The accused was arrested for breaching his bail conditions again. This time he was held for a Bail Hearing on Jan. 3rd, 2012. He now faces three counts of Breach of Recognizance.


Belleville Ontario ? On 01 January 2012, at 6:15 a.m., the Officer-in-charge at the Belleville Police Service observed a prisoner attempting to damage the cell that he was lodged in. Closer examination revealed that minor damage had occurred that would require repairs. The 26 year old Quinte West man was charged with Mischief under $5000.00. He will appear in court on February 2nd, 2012.


Belleville, Ontario ? On 01 January 2012, at 9:00 p.m., Police received a call about donations that had been stolen from the receptacle outside St. Vincent de Paul on Coleman St. A witness described the vehicle and occupants. A short time later an officer on patrol located the vehicle. Eight bags of donated goods and clothing were removed the from the pick-up truck. Charged are 36 year old Daniel Roberts and 19 year old Jamie Lindsay, both of Quinte West. Both will appear in court on 26 January 2012 on charges of Theft under $5000.00 and Possession of stolen property.
