Arson

Belleville, Ontario ? On July 31, 2010, between 12:27 a.m. and 2:08 a.m., Belleville Police and Belleville Fire Department responded to 3 separate fires on Church Street and Front Street. Suspects set fires in a recycling box, dumpster and a garbage container. Belleville Police Service and Belleville Fire Department are conducting a joint investigation into these deliberately set fires. Police are asking that if anyone has any information that may assist in these investigations to contact Belleville Police Service at 613 966 0882 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.

Assault

Belleville, Ontario ? On July 30, 2010, at approximately 10:50 p.m. police responded to a domestic related assault in the east end of Belleville. A 40 year old Belleville male was arrested and charged with one count each of Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The victim reported she and another female were in the home when the male punched the victim the in left eye, causing swelling and bruising. The second female in the home attempted to intervene and was also punched in the head. The accused was detained in custody awaiting a Bail hearing set for August 3, 2010. The name of the male name will not be released as to protect the identity of the victim.

Break & Enter(s)

Belleville, Ontario ? Belleville Police responded to 6 Break & Enters over the weekend. On July 30th at 10:30 p.m., police responded to a break & enter to a business on Wilson Ave. Suspect kicked in a rear door to the business to gain entry. Once inside nothing was taken however suspects smashed a number of windows within the building.

Police responded to a second break & enter on July 31st at 10:00 p.m. on Cannifton Road. A witness called police as they observed a cut screen to a window in the rear of the apartment and then observed an unknown male inside the home. The suspect was wearing a dark colored t-shirt and had a shaved head. Police arrived within minutes of receiving the call however the suspect was had fled from the area. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the apartment.

A garage was broken into on Wareham Street sometime over night from July 31st to Aug 1st. Suspects took a bike and a six pack case of beer.

A boat moored on South Front Street was entered sometime between the evenings of Monday July 26th and Friday July 30th. Suspects entered by forcing a lock in the lower cuddy of the boat. Once inside suspects took an Acer Aspire Notebook and approximately 32 DVD's.

On August 1, 2010, at 8:30 p.m. a resident on Yeomans Street arrived home to find that suspects attempted to gain entry to their home. Three windows had been pried by pulling the screens off however no entry had been gained to the home.

Another home owner, in the same area, reported an entry to their home on August 1st shortly before 10:00 p.m. A Sinclair resident came home to find all the screens removed from various windows. Entry was gained through one of the windows. Once inside suspects did not take anything however cause damaged to the home owners furniture.

Impaired Driver(s)

Belleville, Ontario ? On July 31, 2010, at 2:10 a.m. police were responding to a call for service in the downtown area of Belleville. On arrival in the area police observed a male park his vehicle and exit from the drivers seat. Officers approached the male to question him in relation the complaint they had received. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested for Drive While Impaired. The driver was identified as Christopher Maracle, 38 years old, from Tyendinaga. Maracle was charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80mgs, and Driving while Disqualified.

Belleville, Ontario ? On August 1, 2010, at 2:39 a.m., police stopped a vehicle opposite Payless Shoes on Millennium Drive. As a result the driver was requested to provide a sample for the roadside Screen Device. The driver was subsequently charged with Over 80mgs. Charged is David Barrett, 22 years old from Colbourne, he will appear in court in September 2010.
