Missing Person update:


Belleville, Ontario On August 20, 2014, members of the Ontario Provincial Police searching an area outside of Brockville in relation to a missing persons investigation located the body of an adult male.

Subsequently, the male was identified as Steven PETTIBONE, 39, who was reported missing from Belleville earlier this week.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday August 21, 2014 in Ottawa to determine the cause of death.

At this point, while there is no indication of foul play, the investigation is ongoing and all calls to the media are to be directed to:

(Elizabethtown Twp) On August 20th, 2014 at approximately 10:30am, OPP officers located the body of a deceased adult male following a search of an area where an abandoned vehicle was reported to police.


On August 19th, 2014 at approximately 6:15pm, Leeds County OPP officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle at a property off of Howe Road, Elizabethtown Township. Investigation indicated the vehicle was linked to a missing person incident from the City of Belleville.


Leeds OPP officers, assisted by OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Snowmobile - All-Terrain Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) and OPP Helicopter Unit members attended to conduct a search of the area. 


Foul play is not suspected. No further details will be released.



Belleville, Ontario On August 19, 2014 shortly after 6 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police uniformed division located PETTIBONEs vehicle in a rural area outside of Brockville, Ontario.

At this time a search is underway for PETTIBONE in the area where the vehicle was located.

The public is asked to contact Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with any information regarding PETTIBONEs whereabouts.


Belleville, Ontario Police have included further clothing description: At 7:50am 18th August 2014, he was wearing a blue jacket with a hood, blue jeans and converse style shoes.



Belleville, Ontario  Belleville Police Service are seeking assistance from the public in locating  a Belleville man who was last seen at his residence in Belleville at approximately 7:30 am on August 18th2014.  He did not arrive for his employment in Brockville.


Steven Pettibone, 39 years of age, he is described as being 510 tall, 190lbs with brown eyes, balding brown hair and a goatee. He may be wearing a black jacket.  No other clothing descriptors are available. He could be driving a 2013 Kia Rio 4door grey bearing Ontario marker BPMT 499.
