Fraud artist surrenders to Police
Belleville, Ont. - On September 20, 2009, a 26 year old Quinte West man turned himself in to Police in relation to a stolen gift card. The card had been stolen initially on June 17th. Video footage had been collected showing the suspect using the card three times. This male was charged with three counts of using a stolen credit card and will appear in October. A co-accused, a 24 year old Belleville man, had been charged with similar counts on Aug. 26th.
Disturbing phone call
Belleville, Ont. - On September 20, 2009, at 10:30 p.m. Belleville Police received disturbing information that had been contained in a phone call. A ?prayer line? in Texas received a message from a male who said he had just killed his children. The prayer line contacted the Bedford Police in Texas, who in turn contacted the Toronto Police Service. The phone number belonged to a Belleville resident, and the Toronto Police notified the Belleville Police. Uniformed Officers including tactical team members attended at this north end residence. The homeowner admitted that he had been drinking and was frustrated with the message the prayer line was delivering on TV. He was cautioned regarding his inappropriate comments and cautioned that further phone calls would result in criminal charges.
