The Belleville Police responded to 42    calls for service between 0500 hrs on 19 April 2019 and 20 April 2019.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Belleville, ON - On the 19th of April 2019 at 10:00 p.m., officers received numerous 911 calls with regard to a loud smash in front of 249 Bridge St West. When officers arrived on scene, they found that a pick up truck had completely demolished a bus shelter. The vehicle was westbound on Bridge St West, crossed two lanes of traffic, hit a tree, and then the bus shelter on the south side of the road. Officers established grounds to believe that the male driver was under the influence of a narcotic. He was transported to the police station where he underwent standard field sobriety testing. As a result of his driving, and the results of the tests, the male was issued a ticket for careless driving and a 3-day suspension.

Arrest on Warrant and Breach of Probation

Belleville, ON - On the 20th of April 2019 at 11:50 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle on Moira Street West without its headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop and spoke to the two males in the vehicle. After identifying the males, the driver - who resides in Toronto - was arrested for breaching two conditions of his probation. The first being not to be in Hastings County, and the second was failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior. He was also charged with obstruct police for failing to properly identify himself, drive while suspended, and driving with improper headlights.

The passenger was arrested as well because he had two outstanding warrants. Joseph Stacey a 40 year-old male from Belleville, was wanted for theft under 5000.00 dollars and fail to appear for court. Both accused were held for a bail hearing on 23 April 2019.
